Dog Walking

I walk at Croham Hurst Woods, South Croydon (CR2) on weekdays, and have a lovely group of regulars ready to make friends with your dog! Whether you’re looking for a regular weekly slot or something less structured, I’ll always do my best to fit you in and ensure your dog is with the best matches.

When I receive your enquiry, I’ll send you a form to fill out which covers all the upfront information I need so that I can do my best to make sure that your dog and others are matched well and happy and safe at all times! Please make sure to fill this out to the best of your ability, and I’ll be happy to talk through anything if you have any questions or issues.

If I’m unable to help you for whatever reason (no availability on a preferred day for example) I’ll always do my best to refer you on to one of the other Walkers in the local area, all of whom I know and trust.

Please note…

You must be located in the CR2 area

At present, I can only offer my services to those within the CR2 area. This is so that I can pick everyone up on time, and ensure that dogs aren’t stuck driving around in the car for extended periods! If you’re unsure of your eligibility based on your location, just give me a shout and we can discuss.

Dogs must be neutered/spayed

One of my few restrictions is that I don’t take on intact dogs, unless they’re below the appropriate age for the procedure, or have medical reasons for exemption.

It’s your responsibility to disclose any health or behavioural issues to me upfront and on an ongoing basis

It’s crucial that I have this information before beginning walks with your dog, and during our time together - if something comes up, please make sure to let me know! This is for my safety as much as it is theirs.

Safety

Safety is one of my top priorities when I’m out and about with your dogs, and it’s something that I take very seriously and take steps to actively manage every day. You can rest assured then when your dog is in my care, I’m always keeping an eye on things to maintain their safety, comfort, and enjoyment of the walk! Below are some examples of equipment that I use each day to achieve this, and you can read about my training and qualifications on my About page.

Equipment

Leads & Long Lines

Every dog who starts walks with me will be on-lead for at least the first few walks while we find our feet together. Each dog is an individual and will adjust at their own pace, so it may be that the transition to walking off-lead with me is quite quick, or it may take a little longer if I feel that we need to take things more slowly. To aid with this transition, I have some long lines which I use as an intermediate step. If your dog needs to remain on lead indefinitely for whatever reason, just let me know!

GPS Trackers

As an additional layer of safety, I also have 3 GPS trackers from Tractive - you can read about these on my Recommended Equipment page. These are active GPS trackers, which means that I receive live location information every few seconds and so will always know where any dog in my care is, even if they’ve popped into a bush after a squirrel! I’m pleased to say I’ve never had to use these in an emergency scenario, but it’s nice to have that extra safety net there.

ID Tags with Bells

Each dog should have their own ID tag with the owner’s name and address attached to their collar, but on top of this I add one of my custom tags which states that they’re out with their Walker and has my number so that I can be reached asap if necessary. These tags also have bells attached so I can keep an ear out for the dogs as they charge around!

Training & insurance

K9 First Aid Trained + Kit

I’ve completed the IMDT’s K9 First Aid course (see my About page for the certificate!), and carry a dog first aid kit with me on walks. Thankfully I’ve never had to use it on dogs (though I have performed some minor first aid on people using the kit once or twice!), but I’m well-prepared should any accident or injury occur. The nearest Veterinary practice is Elmfield Way, which is close both by car and on foot from the woods.

Canine Body Language Trained

I have also completed the IMDT’s Canine Body Language course, which is an important subject for anyone working with dogs to be well-versed in. This helps me to interpret and manage various situations and interactions, and to keep everyone safe and happy.

Experienced, Insured, Reliable

Above all, I’ve been doing this professionally for several years now and in that time have have zero instances of loss, accident, injury, or anything else in my care. I am fully insured, which also covers any family members who come out with me from time to time, and my current clients can attest to the fact that I’ll always communicate with you anything that you need to know about your dog, be it something that I’ve noticed eg. a bit of an upset tummy or a change in behaviour, or something that’s happened on a walk should that occur.

Pricing

  • £12 - 1 Hour Group Walk

My week mainly consists of 1 hour group walks of up to 4 dogs. If you’re looking for a regular walk, we’ll be able to discuss which dogs are already walking on set days and who might be a good match for your dog. Pick up and drop off is outside of the hour so your dog will definitely get a good run around! Usual timings are approximately 10:30 or 11 to 12 or 12:30, and vary for different days of the week - please get in touch for specifics (timings here inclusive of general pick up and drop off).

  • £24 - 2 Hour Group Walk

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I do a 2 hour walk in the afternoon with some of my longtime regulars! At the moment both of these walks are fully booked, however if a regular longer walk is something you’d like to discuss, please do get in touch and we can talk about what might be possible!

  • £17 - Solo or Weekend Walk

Please get in touch if you need a walk done solo or at the weekend and I will let you know about my availability. I rarely walk on the weekends, but if I have availability I do so for a slightly higher rate, as detailed above.
